The idea of Notions came to me when cleaning out my grandmother’s house. There among all the memories of her sat the “Button Box.” This heirloom is one the most passed down items for the women of most families. The pride of exclaiming “I have my Mother’s (or Grandmother’s) button box!” and then adding your own buttons to be passed down from you.
This well-worn tin container led to many happy hours of sorting them by color or size. If I close my eyes, I can still feel my fingers running through them and the distinct sound of them hitting the bottom of the box. Can you?
